The Cornell Ballroom Dance Club (CBDC) was founded in the Fall of
1993 with the goal of promoting both
social and competitive
ballroom dance on the Cornell Campus and in the surrounding Ithaca Area.
In 2002, a separate ballroom team (Cornell DanceSport)
was established to oversee and promote the competitive side of ballroom dancing at Cornell.
Today, the club's sole focus is on promoting social ballroom dancing.
The club consists primarily of students (undergraduate and graduate)
and is also open to faculty/staff and the Ithaca community.
What is ballroom?
Our club teaches all styles of ballroom dance, from standard and smooth
to latin and rhythm. Ballroom dancing entails not only the fancy, elegant
dances such as waltz and tango, but also the fast rhythmic dances such as
cha-cha and samba. Our club also occasionally teaches more social dances
such as merengue, salsa, swing, west coast swing, hustle, etc.
Members
Club members range from absolute beginners to more experienced dancers.
We aim to provide a fun, friendly dance environment for those who wish
to learn to dance socially.
Partners and experience are not required to join the club.
Membership dues are very low and time committment is as much as you'd like
it to be. For more information click
